Ljusekulla Distributionscenter

Consolidated food store deliveries

More efficient and environmentally-friendly logistics for stores

At the end of February 2021, we received the keys to our newly built, modern and environmentally classified facility at Ljusekulla, just outside Helsingborg. It is here that our new “housing concept” will be implemented. The new building, which covers an area of almost 11,000 m², will function as a terminal for the handling of frozen and refrigerated food and will also provide other services such as warehousing, cross-docking and display pallet construction.

The facility at Ljusekulla has been designed to meet the needs of operators who have a large number of deliveries to stores and who require increased co-shipment and stock picking from different producers. With the food hub of Helsingborg as the starting point, the new facility will primarily enable us to reach the food industry in southern Sweden.

Benefits

Food that needs to be handled in different temperature zones will be able to be handled under one and the same roof. We will also reduce our environmental impact in comparison with the facilities that we are now phasing out. Despite the smaller total area, we will be able to handle more goods and make more efficient use of the area at our disposal. The new facility will enable us to reduce the length of our transport routes and will create a better and safer work environment.

Furthermore, stores will have fewer incoming shipments to handle than in the past thanks to consolidated store deliveries.

Together, they provide good customer care in each region and work proactively based on our customers’ specific needs.

The teams work together to produce volume and production analyses, develop proposals for new solutions, prepare assignment specifications and agreements, and assist with the planning of deliveries and operations and the provision of ongoing reporting and operational monitoring for our customers, with Ljusekulla as the starting point.

Environmentally classified building

The new building at Ljusekulla is environmentally classified, with electricity supply from hydropower and plans for a solar power plant. The building is also self-sufficient when it comes to hot water and heating thanks to the recovery of energy from the refrigeration and freezing facilities. The automatic loading dock doors are weatherproof to reduce energy consumption.

The facility will also provide electrical connection to enable trucks to maintain the correct temperature in their refrigeration units without the need for idling.
