Frigoscandia wins Transport Companies’ Sustainability Award 2023

On Wednesday evening, Frigoscandia from Helsingborg won the “Transport Companies’ Sustainability Award 2023”. Other finalists were Falkenklev Logistisk and Nordanå Transport. As the winner, Frigoscandia received a check for SEK 50,000 which they will donate to the local football team Hittarps Gatulag.

– It’s great fun and feels incredibly honorable because we were pitted against such fine finalists. We are working very goal-oriented with the fossil-free transition, I am very proud of that. But many, including me, are also very proud of the food bridge we created to Ukraine. We simply saw an opportunity to contribute with what we can, says Sofia Hanfelt, purchasing manager at Frigoscandia and the recipient of the award.

Frigoscandia will donate the winnings of SEK 50,000 to the local football team Hittarps Gatulag.

– We will donate the prize money to Hittarps Gatulag. It is a football team for people who are in a vulnerable situation. It can be about a drug problem or mental illness that has caused them to end up outside society and where the football team contributes to creating community, purpose and context, says Sofia Hanfelt.

Motivation of the jury
This year’s Sustainability Award goes to a large logistics company that regards sustainability work as a natural part of the entire business. And just as business-critical as other processes within the entire business.

By systematically looking for and analyzing potential environmental measures, the company has made several investments, both large and small. Smaller and larger measures have been taken to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and optimize all energy consumption within the entire company.

The management has shown courage and a constant willingness to change, proven, among other things, through large and long-term environmental investments, this in the midst of an economically uncertain environment.

In addition, the company in question has demonstrated a great social responsibility, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, by actively working to reduce food waste and helping other people in difficult vulnerable situations. A unanimous jury has chosen a winner. Winner of the Transport Companies’ Sustainability Award 2023 is Frigoscandia AB.
